2015 PROVINCIAL EATING DISORDERS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN


Vancouver, BC: The Northern Lights display at BC Place will be glowing purple on Friday, February 6, to support the launch of the 2015 Provincial Eating Disorders Awareness (PEDAW) campaign, titled ‘Love our bodies, love ourselves’.

About the Provincial Eating Disorders Awareness (PEDAW) campaign
The Provincial Eating Disorders Awareness (PEDAW) campaign is a BC province-wide effort to raise awareness around prevention and early intervention of eating disorders as well as media literacy, resiliency, building healthy body image and self-esteem. Collecting blood during the holiday season can be challenging as many donors are travelling or are busy with family. The campaign will encourage Canadians to donate blood and register to become an organ and tissue donor during the holiday season.

Vancouver, BC: BC Place will light the Northern Lights Display green on Tuesday, December 2nd, in support of the Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation on “National Giving Day”.

Take a Hike is a local program that aims to help youth in BC who struggle with a combination of personal issues such as drug and alcohol addiction, physical and mental abuse, low self-esteem, depression, unstable homes, poverty and/or trauma, by providing them with a stable and supportive environment to work through their issues, build confidence, improve their academic abilities and eventually graduate from high school.

Vancouver, BC: BC Place Stadium is excited to welcome CFL fans from across Canada to the 102nd Grey Cup Championship Final this Sunday, November 30, 2014! As one of Canada’s largest annual sporting events, the Grey Cup connects the country like no other, and generates some impressive statistics!

Stadium fast facts on the event:

•    20,000 - number of hot dogs anticipated to be sold (the equivalent to the weight of 7,134 footballs)

•    37,000 – litres of beer anticipated to be sold

•    3,800 lbs – total weight of chicken tenders anticipated to be sold (equivalent to the weight of an average family car)

•    Two miles – length of the tubes of popcorn placed end to end anticipated to be sold

•    10,000 – number of hamburgers anticipated to be sold

•    17,000 – litres of pop anticipated to be sold

•    6,000 – slices of pizza anticipated to be sold

•    4,300 –orders of nachos anticipated to be sold

•    1,500 – number of BC Place staff working on game day

•    360 – number of industrial-sized rolls of paper towels for game day

•    1,251 – litres of hand soap for game day

•    30+ – number of local businesses providing services to BC Place for the event
