‘WRAP IT UP RED’ CAMPAIGN

Vancouver, BC: BC Place is glowing red on December 3rd in support of the Canadian Blood Services and their annual holiday campaign, “Wrap it in RED… Will you save a life this holiday season?”

Collecting blood during the holiday season can be challenging as many donors are travelling or are busy with family. The campaign will encourage Canadians to donate blood and register to become an organ and tissue donor during the holiday season.

BC PLACE GLOWS GREEN FOR TAKE A HIKE FOUNDATION

Vancouver, BC: BC Place will light the Northern Lights Display green on Tuesday, December 2nd, in support of the Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation on “National Giving Day”.

Take a Hike is a local program that aims to help youth in BC who struggle with a combination of personal issues such as drug and alcohol addiction, physical and mental abuse, low self-esteem, depression, unstable homes, poverty and/or trauma, by providing them with a stable and supportive environment to work through their issues, build confidence, improve their academic abilities and eventually graduate from high school.

Since the first World AIDS Day in 1988, people around the world have shown their commitment to finding a cure by ‘going red’ and wearing a red ribbon.

Vancouver, BC: BC Place Stadium is excited to welcome CFL fans from across Canada to the 102nd Grey Cup Championship Final this Sunday, November 30, 2014! As one of Canada’s largest annual sporting events, the Grey Cup connects the country like no other, and generates some impressive statistics!

Stadium fast facts on the event:

•    20,000 - number of hot dogs anticipated to be sold (the equivalent to the weight of 7,134 footballs)

•    37,000 – litres of beer anticipated to be sold

•    3,800 lbs – total weight of chicken tenders anticipated to be sold (equivalent to the weight of an average family car)

•    Two miles – length of the tubes of popcorn placed end to end anticipated to be sold

•    10,000 – number of hamburgers anticipated to be sold

•    17,000 – litres of pop anticipated to be sold

•    6,000 – slices of pizza anticipated to be sold

•    4,300 –orders of nachos anticipated to be sold

•    1,500 – number of BC Place staff working on game day

•    360 – number of industrial-sized rolls of paper towels for game day

•    1,251 – litres of hand soap for game day

•    30+ – number of local businesses providing services to BC Place for the event


In addition to the regular menu of stadium favourites, we will be serving special items at the Grey Cup game, including:

•    Honey sausage with onions and peppers - available at sections 217 & 236.
•    Grab-&-Go items like sushi, sandwiches, plus cheese and charcuterie plates at sections 401 & 426.
•    Steamed pork dumplings and house smoked bacon fried rice at portable Asian steam Bun locations 250 & 414.
•    Grey Cup collector cups and popcorn buckets available at all fixed food concession stands (limited quantity, available while stocks last)

Taylor announced THE 1989 WORLD TOUR! Kicking off in Louisiana on May 20, 2015, the tour will hit North America and Europe before heading to Australia (playing BC Place, August 1, 2015).

Vance Joy, whose hit song “Riptide” was recently covered by Taylor, is supporting all North American dates and Shawn Mendes will also join the tour for select performances.

Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ took the top spot this week, selling a staggering 1.287 million copies in opening week. That figure marks the single largest sales week for one album since 2002, when Eminem’s The Eminem Show sold just over 1.3 million copies.
